Everybody is encouraged to attend the FUN filled event that will include a Rod Run, games such as basketball toss, Kubs corn hole, Kenwood Kub Tie Die Shirts, just to name a few. Also enjoy the castle bouncer and a dunking booth (weather permitting).
Event will take place rain or shine therefore Rod Run registration fees of $10.00 are non-refundable and will be considered a donation to the Kenwood PTA. To receive a Rod Run Registration Form, please email Doug.Hawkins@louisvilleky.gov. Registration Forms will also be available at DougHawkins.com.
Don’t miss the chance to support your child’s school while having a ton of fun.

Join the American Cancer Society in the fight to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by participating in Relay For Life of Jefferson County. This inspiring overnight event unites the entire community in celebrating those who have had cancer, remembering loved ones lost, and providing an opportunity to fight back against the disease. Relay For Life supports the Society’s mission to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.

“Shop With a Hero” is a wonderful program offering a Christmas to children across Louisville Metro who would not otherwise have had much to be thankful for during the Holiday Season. Last year they helped 750 children representing every Metro Council District. This year there will be over 1,100 requests, if not more in this tough economic time.
Please consider giving your time and talent to “Shop With a Hero” by volunteering or making a donation to help this wonderful program. You can help bring a smile to a child and relief to parents who are trying to make ends meet. There are two ways you can help:

Patriots Peace Run

On November 11, 2009, in honor of America’s military veterans, a Louisville, Kentucky man will run two marathons back-to-back while flying a 5′ x 8′ American Flag high above his shoulders. The “Patriots Peace Run” begins at 7:00 AM in the parking lot of the Jefferson Memorial Forest Welcome Center on Mitchell Hill Road, and will end at 5:30 PM on the lawn of the Patriots Peace Memorial located at 3742 Upper River Road.
VFW Post 1170 will supply the Honor Guard to fold and present the same flag to a veteran for his service. Horn player Dick Martin will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.”
Guest speakers include:
- Keynote speaker Major General (KY) Edward W. Tonini
- District 3 Congressman John Yarmuth
- District 38 State Senator Dan Seum
- District 25 Councilman Doug Hawkins
This event is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to arrive at 5:00 PM.
Parking is available at the Different Strokes Golf Centers located at 3742 Upper River Road.

Cleanup is from 9:00 am to Noon
Individuals and groups welcome, everything you need will be provided, including coffee & donuts. Prizes will be awarded to the largest group, so recruit friends from your neighborhood, business, school, church, sports team or troop and choose any area you feel needs cleaned.
