Turn on Porch Lights to Reduce Crime
T
hefts, burglaries, auto thefts, and robberies make up 85% of the crimes committed in District 25. Thefts are the highest crime and consist of 80% of reported crime in the last three months. Please see crime summary below: Councilman Hawkins and the Louisville Metro Police Department are asking residents to turn on outside lights in an effort to reduce crimes. This neighborhood effort is called “Shine a light on crime.” Police officers say there are some neighborhoods that are so dark that they find it difficult to see criminal activity. Without a light on, there are too many places for a criminal to hide. The Villa Ana Subdivision does not have street lights and residents who live on Kendall Road, Granada Drive, Seville Drive and El Prado Street are encouraged to participate in the “Shine a light on crime” by turning on porch lights. Please turn on your porch light so we can kick crime out of neighborhoods. Click on crime summary to generate a crime summary for your street.
